FAU Faculty and Students Makes Strong Showing at South Florida GIS Expo 2024

Faculty members and graduate students from FAU Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering made a significant impact at the recently concluded 2024 South Florida GIS Expo. The event, held on August 21-22, 2025, at Convention Center in West Palm Beach, brought together professionals, academics, and enthusiasts in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

The South Florida GIS Expo, an annual free conference sponsored by the Palm Beach Countywide GIS Forum and various industry vendors, serves as a crucial platform for GIS coordination, collaboration, networking, education, and training. This year's event saw a strong presence from FAU with several faculty members and graduate students presenting their latest research findings.

Drs. Arockiasamy, Nagarajan and Su from the department, led a team of student researchers in presenting their groundbreaking work on geospatial analysis and applications. The Expo provided an excellent opportunity to share our findings with the broader GIS community and receive valuable feedback.

Graduate students, Nithish Manikkavasagam, Anil Mandal, Lasithasree Lakshmanan, and Varatharajaperumal Thangavel showcased their innovative projects on the conference.
